Local Tech Company Looks to Future, Builds Sales Program with New Business Institute
Rochester, New York: Wilmac Technologies, a Rochester-based technology company, is excited to announce its local partnership with the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship. Both entities will be providing opportunities for personal and professional growth at the partner organization, including career development, scholarships, and more. This partnership reinforces Wilmac’s commitment to growth in Rochester and speaks to the impact Golisano Institute is already having on the economy.
“Partnering with Golisano Institute is the perfect opportunity for us on our sales and marketing team,” said Wilmac President & CEO Steve McDonnell. “Their distinctive curriculum and emphasis on hands-on business experience is something we need for our entry-level sales positions. Golisano Institute is bringing in impressive entrepreneurs from different areas that are sure to build up Rochester’s workforce.”
The Golisano Institute welcomed its inaugural cohort in September 2023. Funded and endowed by Tom Golisano, the Institute’s mission is to empower individuals to become entrepreneurially minded owners of their personal success, sought-after contributors to their employer, and drivers of regional economic growth. The program is two years long, comprised exclusively of business-related subject matter aimed at reducing the time and cost of a traditional business school education.
“You don’t often see an emphasis on sales curriculum in higher education. Recognizing this gap and ensuring sales is an integral part of the program is a big part of what drew us to this partnership,” Wilmac’s Director of Sales Operations Ben Bowen stated. “We’re excited to hit the ground running with the Golisano Institute folks who are being taught incredibly specific and relevant sales concepts, strategies, and principles that you don’t see in many entry-level applicants.”
Wilmac Technologies was recently named one of the 2024 Best Companies to Work for in New York and has seen tremendous growth with its cloud-based data management and archiving software, Continuity Replay. McDonnell has emphasized pulling from local talent since he acquired the company in 2022.
“Prominent Rochester-area businesses like Wilmac give our students an incredible opportunity to access real-world opportunities, mentorships, and networking that not many other institutions integrate into their curriculum,” said John Mordaci, Golisano Institute’s Vice President for Partnerships. “We’re extremely pleased to add Wilmac Technologies as one of our esteemed Employer Partners.”
